Ovipositional punctures also cause damage to tender leaves and inflorescence. Severely infested leaves become curled and inflorescence gets dried. Affected parts are covered with honeydew and sooty mould. Control One spray with carbaryl @ 3 gms/litre of water in November before panicle  formation   ensuring  that tree trunks are also thoroughly drenched during the spray.
