HIGH TECH NURSERIES             Article by : Spandana  jakkula High Tech Nursery is a combination of poly green house and agrinet House. Vegetative reproduction is used in such Nurseries to ensure genetic similarities with the source.  High Tech Nurseries over come the limitations like poor control over Climatic Factors, low germination percentage, longer duration, and high cost involved in conventional methods of Plant raising.       Poly Green House is erected in direction parallel to East- West over angle irons, pipes, or wooden post.   It is erected by fixing mild steel pipe at an Interval of 4.0 Mtr.Distance having Height of 2.50 Mtr.with an area of 32.0 x 8.0 Mtr.as per National Botanical Research Institute Lucknow. .The structure should be covered by Ultra Violet radiation proof polythene sheet made by I.P.C.L. Methods of vegetative propagation

Methods of vegetative propagation -  Cutting and layering techniques Article by:- Hemanth.S Introduction:- Several methods of vegetative propagation have been standardized for different horticultural crops. However, one method of propagation may be suitable for a particular crop but may not be suitable for the others. Similarly, one crop may be propagated on large scale with different methods of propagation, whereas, the others may have only one method.  Further, the success of different propagation methods is influenced by the environmental conditions. Hence, one method for a particular crop may be highly successful in a particular locality, but cannot be of any value in the other.  Types of cuttings On the basis of plant part used and relative positions on a plant, cuttings are classified in various groups. 1. Stem cuttings:   A stem cutting is any cutting taken from the main shoot of a plant or any side shoot growing from the same plant or stem.  The shoots with high ca

TERRARIUMS

Terrariums A terrarium is an indoor miniature garden confined within a glass container that is usually sealed to create an ecosystem that is largely self-sustaining.  Terrarium Soil Layers To build a successful terrarium, use the following soil layers; Drainage Layer – This layer drains and stores excess moisture, reducing the negative impact of growing plants in a container without drainage holes. Moss Layer – This layer absorbs excess moisture and is a barrier between the soil and drainage layers. Charcoal layer – This layer helps absorb any toxins that might impact the health of your plants or odors which might build up in the terrarium. . Soil Layer – This is the base which will house your plants.   Decorative Soil Layer – decorative material such as sand, decorative stones or shells between the soil. This gives your terrarium great aesthetic appeal. Plant Layer – These are the plants you house in your terrarium.  Ornamental Layer

It is a method of farming system which primarily aimed at cultivating the land and raising crops in such a way, as to keep the soil alive and in good health by use of organic wastes (crop, animal and farm wastes, aquatic wastes) and other biological materials along with beneficial microbes (biofertilizers) to release nutrients to crops for increased sustainable production in an eco friendly pollution free environment. As per the definition of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) study team on organic farming “organic farming is a system which avoids or largely excludes the use of synthetic inputs (such as fertilizers, pesticides, hormones, feed additives etc) and to the maximum extent feasible rely upon crop rotations, crop residues, animal manures, off-farm organic waste, mineral grade rock additives and biological system of nutrien
